For the moment Audi sell just the A3 E-Tron, but will be bringing out a whole host of hybrids in the new future.

Current PHEV range:

A3 e-tron

A3 E-Tron

This is a sprightly compact executive hatchback, accelerating from 0 to 60 mph in just 7.6 seconds, whilst it is also able to travel over 30 miles just on batteries. The Emissions are listed as 37g/km, giving a claimed 176.6mpg.

Coming Up:

Q7 e-tron

Audi Q7 e-tron 3.0 TDI quattro

Audi’s new Q7 e-tron will be on sale in Europe by spring 2016, presented as the world’s first plug-in hybrid model with a six-cylinder turbo diesel-injected engine and four-wheel quattro drive.

The electric only range is 34.8 miles, contributing to official US fuel consumption figures of 138.4 mpg. The 75 litre fuel tank allows for a claimed range of 869.9 miles, with  emissions are expected to be less than 50g/km of CO2.

Performance is excellent, with 62mph being achieved in just 6.0 seconds before going on to a top speed of just short of 140 mph. Thank the electric motor’s 275 kW (373 hp) and the diesel engine’s 190 kW (258 hp) power.

R8 e-tron

A8 E-Tron

Whilst the due date for the new R8 is Autumn 2015, there is no date as yet for the e-tron version, and details are very limited. Audi’s media states “The latest evolutionary version of the electrically-powered high-performance R8 e-tron sports car achieves a performance figure of 340 kW and a torque of 920 Nm (678.6 lb-ft). It sprints from a standstill to 100 km/h (62.1 mph) in 3.9 seconds. Thanks to new battery cells, the range could be more than doubled compared to the first version of this technological wonder – it is now more than 450 kilometers (279.6 mi).”
